Epic & Colourful Bristol City Micro Wedding | Sophie & Oscar

Sophie & Oscar planned their Bristol City wedding in a short space of time wanting to make it as chilled & relaxed as possible having been together for a decade, all of which made it the perfect modern non-traditional ode to who they are & their relationship.

There’s a little back story to how I came to photograph Sophie & Oscar little-big day - they found me through a styled shoot I’d done with a cake designer they followed (see 70s City Elopement ) and reached out only a month before they were getting married, we were supposed to be on holiday that day but had by fluke decide to book flights home a day early. So I arrived home at 1am the morning of their wedding, crammed in some sleep then went and met them! It’s my most mentioned wedding, and i so nearly couldn’t make it… FATE - just sayin’

Sophie & Oscar planned on a small intimate day, only inviting their closest friends & family, which made everything from ceremony to dinner crammed full of joy & fun with nothing fazing them or any of the guests, including having tinnies on the streets of Stokes Croft after walking from the Registry Office because the day was running ahead of schedule and they were too early for their booking at their fave restaurant Bianchi’s !

They told all their guests to bring their A-game & dress in colour, and man did they BRING IT! Sophie dressed in a stunning La DoubleJ floor length dress with long sleeves & orange block heels, while Oscar was in a burnt orange linen suit and suede shoes. They perfectly complimented each other and Oscars suit matched Sophie's flowers immaculately... for a couple who are so laidback everything came together perfectly which is truly a testament to them, their style & their relaxed attitude towards planning their day.

“We decided to keep our guest list super small with only 25 of us on the day including ourselves. This was really tricky to do but on the day meant that we had a really tight knit gang. Everyone could talk to everyone but we still had enough people to make it feel like a celebration. I think the fact that we had a smaller day meant that everyone felt relaxed and really enjoyed the day.” - Sophie & Oscar

They had their ceremony in the Lantern Room at Bristol Registry Office followed some epic confetti cannons and a walk through the city to Stokes Croft where they had dinner planned at Bianchis Restaurant. We did their couple shots just up from the restaurant at a fruit & veg shop that they often walk past, and I've no doubt will now be an anecdote every time they pass it.

This intimate day is an incredible example of what can be done when you throw out tradition & just have the day you want exactly how you want it. Thanks for having me Sophie & Oscar, it was truly an honour ❤️‍🔥
